TAMPA — After six months of negotiations, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority agreed Monday to sell about two-thirds of an acre to Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Cascade Investment for $2.75 million.

Jeff Vinik’s Strategic Property Partners (SPP) has completed another land transaction for approximately 2/3 of an acre for $2.75 million. The deal was with the Expressway Authority and allows the street system to be realigned to better enhance the traffic flow of the area.
Vertica Partners had represented SPP on all previous land acquisitions for the $2 billion project backed by Bill Gates’ development company, Cascade Development LLC.

Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth enjoyed the largest net gains from domestic migration, roughly 60,000 each, from July 1, 2014, to July 1, 2015, followed by Phoenix, Tampa-St. Petersburg, Atlanta and Austin. The Sun Belt, once written off as doomed by the urbanist punditry, is clearly back.

The Tampa Bay market continues to perform at an extremely high level on many fronts. The year-over-year value of existing single-family homes rose 7.4% behind only typical headline cities such as Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Denver and Dallas.

The Amazon fullfillment center in the surburban area of has more than doubled its workforce, from 1,000 full-time employees to more than 2,500 since September of 2014.
